We have a fantastic Cook here at Sheldwich who cooks everything on the premises. She works for Principal Catering Ltd who source all fresh meat, vegetables and fruit locally. We can cater for any dietary needs e.g.coeliac, dairy intolerance, allergies including eggs and nuts, vegetarians etc. If you would like to meet Michelle, our cook, to discuss a particular food related issue, please do not hesitate to call us on 01795 532779 or pop in to the school office.

Meals for children in Classes 3 - 6 cost £2.30 per day. All meals must be paid for online in advance by registering with Principals Catering at www.principals-catering.com.

 

 

Pre-School Meals

If you would like hot meals for your Pre-Schooler, please let Mrs Ashmore know when you arrive with your child in the morning. Pre-School dinners cost £2.20 each and are taken over to Little Hedgehogs building in a heated trolley.

Dinners need paying for in the same way as detailed above.

 

 

Universal Free School Meals

 

If your child is in Class R, 1 or 2 they are provided with free school meals and 98% of our KS1 children enjoy these meals every day. If you would rather your child ate a packed lunch, please let us know.

If any parents with children in KS1 ( Classes R, 1 or 2) are receiving any of the benefits below, you may be able to claim for extra financial help with uniform, school trips, music lessons etc. If you would like to know more, please click on the link at the bottom of this page.

 

Class 3 - 6 

If your child is in KS2 (Classes 3, 4, 5 or 6) you may be able to get free school meals for them. The quickest and easiest way to apply for school meals is to apply online.

 

You must receive one of these benefits to qualify:

  • Income Support
  • Income Based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Child Tax Credit (not including Working Tax Credit) - if the household income is below £16,190
  • Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit
  • an income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 if you are an asylum seeker

 

You will be asked for proof of benefit after you apply.

 

Apply for your child's free school meals online. Your eligibility will be checked and your application processed straight away. If your application is successful the school will be notified by email immediately and your child should start receiving their free school meal within 24 hours.

 

Payment for paid meals must be made in advance please. Principal Catering Ltd are not obliged to provide a meal unless it has been paid for. However we understand that occasionally there are special circumstances e.g. a packed lunch being left in the car or dinner money left on the table at home. Just telephone us and we will happily provide a meal with payment to come after.
