In order to visualise why the Moon often appears as a crescent shape to us Earth dwellers, we had a play around with some polystyrene balls and a lamp! We slowly turned to our left, simulating the Moon's orbiting of the Earth and watched how the portion of the moon that we could see changed during the lunar cycle.
We are learning about Earth and Space in Science lessons this term. This week, we got out in the playground to track and measure the moving shadow of a metre stick cast by the Sun as the Earth rotated during the school day.
